DONATIONS

THE IOHIO WELCOMES YOUR SUPPORT

You are invited to collaborate with the IOHIO by contributing to our fund for special projects. The IOHIO is most fortunate to receive support from the Alfredo Harp Helú Foundation Oaxaca to cover many of our normal expenses. However, funding for special projects must be supplemented from alternative sources. For this reason we encourage you to make a donation of any amount to the IOHIO. Your contribution will go a long way here and will truly make a difference. We can accept donations in either dollars or pesos and information about tax deductibility is included on the donation form, which you can access by clicking on a donation category below.

HELP US ADD TO 10 YEARS OF SUCCESS

After ten years of ongoing work, the IOHIO feels most gratified by the progress we have made in preserving the Oaxacan organs, understanding the organs in both their past and present contexts, promoting the use of the organs in their communities, and insisting that the organs be included among the Mexican cultural properties at risk.

Because of our conservation program, organs are no longer being damaged. Two young Oaxacans are being trained in organbuilding and restoration. Our students are invited regularly to play the organ in town celebrations. The organ data base is nearly complete. Our efforts have been facilitated by an extensive support network, both personal and institutional, a reputation for excellence and hard work, and knowledge of how to get the job done in Oaxaca. There is still a long way to go, but the issues and their solutions have become increasingly clear. We are excited and challenged by what we can achieve during the years ahead.

Organs and related historic material are still being discovered in Oaxaca, which makes our work especially important. Whether you are interested specifically in the historic organs or in such related fields as early music, baroque church art, Spanish colonial history, archive research, Oaxacan culture, protection and conservation of historic heritage, or music education, you may be assured that your contribution will have an impact on the future of Oaxaca´s organs. Below are the current and planned projects that your donation will help support.
